Could your poor health be due to an allergy?
For years I suffered from an itchy throat. Very annoying for someone to talks a lot, or relies on their voice in their business or occupation. I didn't know what caused it and I didn't seem to be able to get rid of it. What was worse was that every month to six weeks I was coming down with flu like symptoms which ate up sick leave and threatened my health. This was particularly noticeable if I got fatigued or worked overtime.
My wife eventually persuaded me to see a Specialist Doctor who dealt with allergies. I didn't know that I had any until he gave me a prick test. Essentially they get your arm and place tiny spots of liquid on the arm. They then get a fresh needle and prick your arm. Within a minute you arm begins to itch uncontrollably. After letting to squirm for awhile the Doctor eventually removes the liquid and sees which spots have shown a re-action and if so how strong. My two reactions were to cat fur and dust mites. No wonder when all those years ago when I came home from college my eyes itched - that damn cat.
You normally begin a course of injections designed to increase your immunity to these triggers. Over time the strength of each injection increases lifting your tolerance. You can get a bit of a swelling on your arm at the injection sight but that shows its working. You need to stay in the doctors surgery for 15 minutes after the injection to ensure that your have no adverse reaction that might require immediate medical attention.
I've found since I received treatment I don't get the flu so much and feel a lot healthier. So if you have an illness that the doctor doesn't seem to be able to fix, asked him to send you to an allergy specialist.
